Storyline
When the manic Dr Robotnik returns to Earth with a new ally, Knuckles the Echidna, Sonic and his new friend Tails is all that stands in their way.
After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is ready for more freedom, and Tom and Maddie agree to leave him home while they go on vacation. But, no sooner are they gone, when Dr. Robotnik comes back, this time with a new partner, Knuckles, in search for an emerald that has the power to both build and destroy civilizations. Sonic teams up with his own sidekick, Tails, and together they embark on a journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands. Being directed by Jeff Fowler, and starring Jim Carrey, James Marsden, and Ben Schwartz.

Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey, rather fictitious but who puts the energy of his performance on par with a molten nuclear reactor) is rescued from exile on the mushroom planet by a fictional character. new, a red and muscular echidna (also known as a spiny anteater) named Knuckles, voiced by Idris Elba, who has Sonic beef.
A third cartoon creature, a two-tailed fox named Tails (Colleen O`Shaughnessey), who apparently attended a school with a good STEM curriculum, arrives through a magical golden portal to help Sonic.

While all the running, jumping, and smashing takes place with three basic colored animals, Robotnik turns wise with his former henchman Stone (Lee Majdoub), who is clearly in love with Robotnik but yet can only express their feelings through the art of latte latte. Meanwhile, Tom and Maddie have traveled to Hawaii for the wedding of Rachel, Maddie’s sister (stage actress Natasha Rothwell, a cast member of Saturday Night Live) and seem stuck in a complete movie genre, totally different, a comedy about manners and marriage like one of those movies from the 90s/00s with Owen Wilson or Cameron Diaz.
It all came together in the end, but there was no reason why it all took two hours. Perhaps the spoiler is the unpredictable runtime length. We have a small favor to ask of you.
